hello my senegal bichir has been acting very strange after i did a water changed. he just lays down at the bottom near the filter not moving around much which is odd because he useraly swims all over and is very active. i placed some frozen fish food which he always goes for right away no matter what time of the day/night i place it in the tank even added some blood worms but he wont even eat them =/. i removed about 15% of the water and did my useraly routine i added some seachem flouish and Flourish excel for my plants which i always under dose. i added some indian almond leaves which i always add (probably unnecessary but ive always added them) added seachem prime with the correct dosage. i did remove my home air powered made filter from the tank so he could have some more room and i did replace some sponges in my canister. all stuff ive done in the past and hes never had an issue =/ i havent even seen him swim up to the surface to get some air. as soon as i added the water he came out of the driftwood/rocks and did his useral thing.

he has the whole tank to himself only a chocolate brown bristle nose catfish lives with him and there is no issue between the two

also as i type this thread i just saw him swim about half way up the tank but then just floated back down =/ very strange behavior

Maybe just adjusting after the water change. Keep an eye on the Senegalus.

hey there,

you maybe right kno4te just very odd from him.

i decided to do remove 50% of the water then added about 25% back just water and seachem prime. he has gone up to the surface for a a couple of times and is more active. still haven't seen him eat though. ive noticed hes doing this gulping like when he does eat but he was doing that when he was staying at the bottom =/ forgot to mention that.

will keep an eye out. just very odd coming from him since hes always active and nosey when people walk past the tank lol

havnet seen the bristlenose but hes rarely seen X)

will keep you and anyone that this thread might help informed =]
