wel looks like i may have a texasXJD pair GAHHHHHHH now i have more things to worry bout. but in a way im releaved cause i now my tank is healthy,

I would just keep the fish you have, chances are they are way more entertaining than a bichir, I have a senegal that just swims aimlessly around the tank and it gets annoying to look at, graceful fish that have personality such as your texas are keepers.

you can keep a senegal in a 29 no problem. i have a 12" one doing fine in my 29 gallon.

aren't 29's 12 inches in width?

so you are saying you are keeping a 12 inch fish in a tank that is 12 inches in width?

either...

a) its not 12 inches

or

b) keeping a 12 inch, active fish in a 29 gal is just wrong

The absolute minimum size tank you should keep a senegal in is a standard 30 gallon tank. The general guide is the tank should be 3-4 x the lenght of the fish being kept and 1 1/2 times as wide. but hey its your fish -Anne
