Why did my senegal bichirs get darker? the first one i got turned darker after a few days and same happened to the next two i got. is this normal acclimation/ stress stuff that they go through? is the darker shade their natural color?

pics?

Assuming it's similar to your avatar, you have dark substrate. And if they don't want to be eaten in the wild, they adjust.

My sen and the rest of my fish (except the albinos of course) turned a darker shade after I switched to a dark substrate. I think they do this to adapt to their environment. Everyone does not want to be eaten or be seen hunting you down, right?

so if i want them to become more green i should put more green in there? i think green bichirs are beautiful :)

Haha clever, but no. Your dark sand should be enough to turn your sen olive colored. To see the most green colors pop, from my experience, its all about the lighting color. I have mine on black sand with 6500K bulbs and they show decent green. When I shine a light of about 8000K, the green really shows on my dels, Palmas palmas, mok, and retro. The sens show good, but it's nothing compared to my others. So maybe changing the lighting will help. Also, cb fish tend to not show as much green.
