State of chaos
Hey guys, I just turned the lights on my tank and I noticed that my Bichir's eyes are dark blue and clouded, kinda like a Snake that's about to shed. I immediately did a 50% water change and removed every ornament in the tank. I have a bucket of water with the correct amount of salt mixed in, so just say the word and I'll put it in. Unfortunately I don't have any pictures.

PS, I don't know, but she might be unusually lethargic as well. I found her in the tank sitting next to a piece of fungussy krill. I don't know if she spit it up or if it was just uneaten, but I haven't fed her since last night. She seems to be bumping into things.
Help please!

Bump, I added 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons, you guys think she'll be ok? I'm worried...

Keep up the water changes and immediately remove food that is not being eaten. Polypterus generally have bad eye sight so that's why they have the large nostrils. So with cloudy eyes i wouldn't be surprised if he is crashing into everything

I removed all the food I could find. I also removed everything from the tank but heater and filter so a) I can always see her, and b) she doesn't bump into anything and make it worse.

To prevent stress you must put something s/he can hide in. This prevents stress.

Well, bit of an update, her eyes might have cleared up a bit, but she is not breathing slightly have. So I took the tip off the filter outtake so the water shoots up over the surface to create some water movement.

try adding active carbon..

Hey, that clouded-eye thing happens to my ornate too. Sort of looks like cataracts. For me, I basically just do a 50% water change and stop feeding for afew days..
