I have 2 bichir's and wanted to know the minimum tank size to keep them both in. (One is 4 inches long and the other is about 2 1/2 inches long)

ack, while I'm asking this I might as well ask my other question. What are some good medium sized fish (that wont get eaten ._.;) to keep with them?

Sengs mature at upwards of 12 inches. I personally would not use fish that small. My 3.5 inch long seng eats 1.5 inch long rosy reds. I believe a full grown seng would attack a dwarf gourami.

hmmmmmm...maybe i can laminate some pictures of fish and tie them to rocks and drop them in the tank so it looks like I have fish that....never quite....move.. lol jk

My min size for senegals would be a 40 gallon breeder. As for tank mates it would really depend on more in terms of width/girth than length. A wider bodied fish like gouramis, silver dollars, etc. would stand more of a chance compared to slender bodied fish like rosy reds. As for the dwarf gouramis, I have no experience with them so I'm not sure how they would fare with the senegals but a good alternative would be leopard ctenopomas.

Depending on tank size, you could do datnoids. I'm actually expecting a 2 inch indo dat this week that I'll grow out and house with my senegalus when the dat is large enough not to be harassed.
