Hey my 6 inch senegal is bullying my 8 inch ornate and was wondering what I can do to stop them. They are in a 75 gallon for now, and an upgrade isnt possible for at least 6 months. Hiding places arent the problem, as I have 4 caves. Water parameters are Ammonia .25 ppm Nitrates 0 ppm Nitrite 0ppm ph 6.6. Thanks in advance.

I highly doubt that it will be eaten by the ornate. I have some 17inch plus endlis laps and pbb with some 8 to 10 inch laps and endlis and no problems. From time to time nipping can occur my guess is they are jsut settling a territorial dispute and it will pass in a day of two if not try moving things around in your tank so that neither one will have an established territory. Also just keep an eye on ti to make sure it does not get so bad that one of them will die. Ornates are known to be aggressive so I would keep your eyes on it and just monitor the situation.

my ornate consumed a senegal that was 3/4 of his own size a few weeks ago.

any upper jaw bullying a lower jaw is just funny :D

i worry for your senegal too.

Give it a little bit, it will be the opposite lol I would probably find a way to separate them before the ornate gets sick of the sen pestering it..

my ornate used to be the bully...I put it in a smaller tank by itself and let the rest grow out abit. now he's back together with the rest and is behaving =)

I combined my two 30 gallon tanks, siphoning the water and substrate directly into the 75 about a week ago. It went up to 1ppm, but its been falling quite rapidly. The senegal seems to be following him around and biting his tail and the ornate rockets over to the other side of the tank. Ive only seen it happen twice, but im sure it happens when im not around.
