The first Senegal and first bichir I ever got has passed at 6 years.
For a while it looked like she was just eating a lot then I noticed the bulge stayed towards her chest. She started to swim like a boat. But was still able to get around. Previous to the bloating she was acting like she was going to breed, not that I was trying to breed them. But I was thinking the increase in size could have been eggs.
I know some egg layers can get egg bound. But have never heard of fish having that problem. After she past I was able to shine a light on her belly, the light showed me that her body is full of fluid. Being someone who likes clarity I poked a hole and confirm the belly was full of a clear viscous liquid.
If anyone knows what this was or knows how this could have happened please let me know.
Pellet, tilapia, nightcrawlers, krill, and other bugs
Rare treats: Salmon, garden snails, and in her early days a rare treat of beef heart.. Found out the beef heart isn't the best for Polly's
