Senegal Growth and $

I was just wondering how fast a senegal grows and how much one about 8-9" should cost? A lfs about 1-1.5hrs away has an 8" one for $25, but I was debating driving to get it b/c it's big or should I just buy a little one from PetSmart for like $7? It's only about 3" though. If they grow slow, I'll probably just go get the big one, thanks.

Nah, get the one from Petsmart. They grow remarkably fast, at least mine did. Doubled in size (from 3" to 6") in about two months I think.

Senegals are great, I get mine from Petsmart as well.

growth rates can vary widely some will grow fast others slow.Personaly i'd get a young one and grow it out that way i know hows it been cared for early on -Anne

Yeah, that's true. He'll be in a 300g so he should hopefully grow quickly...

I'd grow it out some in a smaller tank before adding it to a 300 gallon tank-Anne

i got mine from petsmart and in one month as grown two inches in a 20g comm tank
