I recently purchased a very small senegal from petsmart a while ago. Its still only about 2 inches.
Three days ago I purchased a dovii that is around 2" too.

There are hiding spots for the sen. that the dovii cant get in to.

The dovii really doesnt bother the sen. but lately the Sen. has started to bite the dovii, causing the dovii to retaliate,
and when the dovii does, he roughs up the bichir pretty bad.

But the bichir is still doing it! He does it once at least every 15 min., then gets the mess beat out of him.

Why does he keep doing this?
Does he have some sort of death wish?

Speculation on fish Psychology aside I think you need to separate them. For whatever reason your bichir is unwilling to accept the dovi as its superior. Unless this changes one of them will die, and I know dovi's are feirce and get huge but at equal sizes the bichir may pose some risk to the dovi. My sen has grabbed fish just a little bigger then itself and deathrolled till he broke their necks or something important cause they were done, and of course the dovi poses a risk to the bichir if he gets tired of being attacked and goes on the offensive.

Well the strange thing is they are actually getting along, the dovii accepts the bichir in its pot!

Ive literally watched them all day and so far with the lights out, and they act like they've been together forever

really strange...

i did sort of the same thing. i bought a little maybe 4" sen from petsmart along w a 4" oscar. i dropped some bloodworms in for them, the cube sank to the bottom and while my oscar was eating some, the bicher came out and the oscar swam away. lol it looked like the bicher was just tryin to eat and scared the crap outta the o by accident.
