Senegal : Male or Female?

Could someone please help me sex my Senegal Bichir?

Here is a picture of my 8" Senegal. I have been calling it a 'he' for quie sometime now, but I think it is actually a female.

If you can't tell my this picture, let me know and I will try to get a better one (he/she didn't want to be photographed).

it's hard too see the ventral fin, but it looks like it might be a female.

Hope this is a better pic. You are supposed to be able to tell by the anal (ventral) fin, right?

Thanks, I actually saw that thread and noticed how thick that male's fin was, which is why I started to doubt that mine was a male. I just have never seen another live one that is the same size as my sen, so I had no basis for the "bigger/smaller" comparison.

So it is definately a female?

yes i would say so, pretty long fin for a female though but at 8", its a female
