A couple months ago I bought 3 senegals that were ~3" at the time of purchase. Now, two of them are a good 6-7"+ and pretty fat, while the third doesn't look like it has grown at all. At most it hits 4". Should I be worried that it may have something wrong, or is it just a slow grower? The small one doesn't seem like it is bothered by any other tankmates, and will fight over food with the bigger ones like it's not afraid at all.

he could be a short body polypterus

slow grower most likely

yeah, mine have all grown at different rates. So long as he's eating well and acting normal I wouldn't worry.

could also be stunted. if you cruise through your lfs often, you get an idea of how long their particular stock has been there, and some lfs's in my area move fish around to different tanks too.

I know my albino will never reach it's potential size because that batch of albinos had been in the shop for a while, and there are still a couple there, and they look like a newly arrived batch of babies (size-wise) but in reality they should be pushing 8" now.
