Need help with my senegal!

I woke up one morning and found that he swim through the overflow. Now normally it won't be a problem but my ropefish kept swimming through the eggcrates that I placed a filter pad over. And my senegal's front fins got entangled with the filter pad when he swim through the overflow.

I had no choice but to snatch away the entangled part. The orderal was so shocking to him that he refuses to eat for 2 days and didn't come out from the dark side of my tank.

He have now start to eat. But i'm worried. Would his fin grow back?

Yea spirit, had the same problem with my sen biting my dels fins off, and 3-4 weeks later they are all grown back, no problems, no infections.. should be fine..

(Whats your tankd temp? I always keep mine around 82f-84f, maybe that can help, or not, just a guess...)

Theyll grow back though no prob, gl..

They'll grow back, no worries, but you need to get the overflow situation corrected quickly!

Something I found that will work wonders is Porret foam, the real porus stuff for holding bio material in most filters out there-Aquaclear comes to mind. My overflow pointed up so I cut a cylinder that slid over the 1.5" piping I used and the water goes right through-but unless your fish is an all-star basketball player-nothing will be able to get into the open pipe. I left the top open so in the off case it became completely plugged up the water level in the tank would rise (about 1/4-1/2") and the water would flow over the sponge into the drain.

HAHA! Let the experienced one tell you!!!!!!! i've been extremely sad when my albino bichir had his 2 pectoral fins frayed and ripped. I got pretty sad and depressed for a while (LOL). I thought it was quite impossible for my bichirs fins to grow back. Guess I was wrong. After a month or 2 of good filteration, added salt, diet and water changes, the fisns were all beautiful and perfect and all! Moral of my story: don't doubt ur fish even in the worst situation for him/her(fish)!

Thanks will keep an close eye for infection

if it makes you feel any better my bichirs tail got bitten completely off. but it grew back! dont worry, he'll be fine

Yea when I got mu del she had almost no spikes on the top of her back, and now they are all grown back and she is as pretty as ever!
