Does anyone have any experience with keeping banjo catfish and bichirs together?

I have a 5.5 inch Senegalus and an opaline gourami. The gourami and bichir have been together for 3 months, so I think they are ok(at least for now). The gourami has shown aggression towards other fish(he seems to be doing alright with the bichir though). I would guess that the gourami wouldn't bother a banjo cat too much, because he seems to go largely by sight. The bichir would have me worried though because they go by smell. The bichir has already ate a few of his tank mates. They are currently in a 20 gal long. I'm considering moving them to a 55.

I'm not sure how big the banjo would be, because most LFS say I would need to order one. There is one store that says they have a few banjos, so I'm going to stop by and have a look at them. I'll post their size when I get back. Do you think I should try adding a banjo or wait until I have another aquarium?

The banjo cats I checked out at the store were about 2 in. They are sure good at acting inanimate. Unless the bichir would have trouble finding them, they seemed like bite size morsels.

:confused:I did the same thing 11 yr ago I had 3-4 inch Banjo cat thick ones to and then I put in a 12inch P.Endlicheri and he found 3 of them and had a snack and 1 I took out of his mouth.

Thanks, sounds like I'll have to wait till I have another aquarium.

Also does anyone have experience with bichirs and snails. I would like to get something to help clean up my tank, but I'm concerned that a scavenger fish might get eaten.

I ended up getting two mystery snails. They were alive at the shop, but haven't moved since I introduced them. On the bright side the bichir hasn't bothered them. They're big enough that he/she shouldn't be able to fit them in his mouth.

I haven't had luck finding ghost shrimp. I saw one at petsmart a few months ago, but the tank didn't look very clean. Maybe I'll call around after I find out how the snails workout.

my bichirs like eating snails for some reason.:screwy:
but only occasionally.
thats why my snail population is going down. (which is good by the way. :) )
that sen will definetly outgrow the banjo.

Mine didn't eat snails however she made a game of catching them taking them to the surface and dropping them back down-Anne
