Well I just got one of these and I really like him. I know they only get around
9-12" so do you think I could put two in a 55 or should i leave it at one. Or could I add an ornate bichir in with him in the 55. I could also add any of these to a 70 gallon with a dempsey and 5 silverdollars(not at the moment though the dempsey would gobble them up). Let me know.

id put 2 senegals in the 55g... while the ornate is fairly young you can add him too, tho eventually he will outgrow the 55

Thank you for the advice. I will be getting the other Senegal tomorrow. They are both about 4" TL. Is it normal for them to hang out at the top of the aquarium? Mine seems to hang out there, at least for the time being. Is there a way to differentiate males from females? Also, do you know how quickly they will grow? Thank you.

Is it normal for them to hang out at the top of the aquarium? Perfectly normal mine liked to hang out in the plants.

Is there a way to differentiate males from females? You'll need to wait til they are 7-8 inches the males anal fin will be broader and more muscular then the females.

Also, do you know how quickly they will grow? Thank you. They can grow easily an inch to an inch and a half per month till 7-8 inches then the growth rate slows-Anne

Thanks. I think I am starting to really love the little snake like fish. :headbang2 Now I just have to think of names...

Im just making sure these two can be in there together for their whole lives right? Thanks again.

Aren't they great little fish? As far living together their whole lives - I've read some stuff that says they will fight with each other - but personally I keep three together w/ no problems and I think a number of other people here also keep them in groups.

id keep SHFIFTY FIVE no but seriously they look like awesome fish and i want an ornate because thats all thats available right now YEAH birchirs

While it will depend on their individual personalities I keep conspecifics together
with no major issues so you should be fine -Anne
