First off I am setting up a 48x12x18 tank again soon, its been out of action for awhile and plan on growing on my fire eel and juruense in it untill they can go in the main tank.

The eel is about 9" the Juruense is about 4" at the moment.

Could I keap a Senegalus with them while they grow on?

Would the Senegalus be able to live in that tank for life? (I will likely get an albino one as I have read in many places they grow smaller)

If you think its not a good idea to put one with the Juruense and Eel will one be OK in that tank after they move out? if so what tank mates would you suggest, if any.

Thanks alot for any help or advice.

i dont kno about the juruense but i keep a fire eel with my bichirs and a albino sen should b good in there 4 life

Thanks for the advice.

Just to add a couple of questions to the original post...

I plan on making this a planted tank with black sand substrate, low light plants though without CO2 etc.

Do Senegalus do OK in a planted tank? I have read they like sand, thats correct?

Sorry for the amount of questions, I like to get as much information on any fish I am considering getting way in advance of actualy getting it :)

senegalus do fine in a planted tank. I also have a senegalus in with a black sand substrate and plants;)

yea they love sand and they do fine in planted tank i have black sand

OK so I'm thinking (after fire eel and juruense move onto main tank) black sand substrate, black background, planted with either an albino or standard senegalus.

Maybe two?

Pimelodus blochii maybe?

What could I have for mid/top of the water?

Any other ideas?

Thanks :)
