what is the easiest way to tell a male birchir from a female bichir ?

I only have one little sens right now and thinking about getting it a companion or would I be better off just getting a different species, tank space is not an issue they will be going into a 360 gallon ...

K thanks Peewee,

Think I am going to go see if I can find any birchirs locally just to be able to compare the anal fins.

just in cse I happen to find a different species of birchir , is there any that I really shouldn't get because it would bother my sengal ?

as long as size differences are not to big all should be fine, ornates are just quite aggressive compared to others.

I actually just got back and can't find any locally but talked to the owner of the LFS and they said they have some sens, albino sens, palmas, endli , coming in on the next shipment so will wait and see :D

Be aware it wont be till 6"-8" before you can know definativly the sex of Senegals, Also Wild Senegals are sometimes called Palmas so if its pure brown/grey with no yellow its just a big Senegal
