Don't be fooled by their common status, they are one of the best bichirs you can own

yeah there my first bichirs, ive always wanted to get them but there always too small and would never survive in any of my grow out tanks. so i never got them. but since my wife got me this bgk and it is so small i set up a new 20 long in my bedroom and got them to share a tank with it. (pre established filter stolen off of my 90 and i used stress zyme)

Could be any of the bichirs actually. Most stores just come up with a common name rather than research the species themselves but most of the time, they are either Polypterus ornatipinnis or P. senegalus.
