I asked because all my levels are fine but my fish are breathing fast. My xingus are acting like nothings wrong but my kels just died one day after another and now I have lost one of my azuls. I added a powerhead, 2 bubble wands, and 2 air stones. They are still breathing heavy though and I am very worried.

might be gill flukes if your fish are "breathing fast". thats how i lost one of my first two azuls. turn the heat to 89, add aquarium salt, and pick up some prazi pro.
its contagious and yes it can be transmitted from new fish. Did you notice any abnormal growths on the gills of your dead fish? take a look at my old thread.
Do you know the water temp and parameters for sure? An ammonia spike, temp spike or other water issues could also cause this. I had a digital temp gauge go bad that was for a controller and it almost fried my fish, but said 82f, more like 92f.
After reading that I am almost sure that is the problem. Hopefully only those three will die. This cichla game is way more expensive than the common cichlid game.
