hey,

i have a couple green terrors.
at the start everthing was fine.
but since a short time they wanna start breeding they get more aggresive to my other fish.
if it stays like this its fine but i feel like it will get more and more when they will start breeding
i dont want them to hurt all my other fish so what do i do?

i really wanna keep the big male
but can i separate them?
and what happens when i keep the male without a female?
and if they start breeding will they just defend or attack till death?

srry for my bad english

As the green terror matures, it becomes more aggressive. The parents become highly aggressive while breeding, so they should be kept in a tank by themselves. You can always separate then to prevent them from breeding. Usually any smaller fish will be harassed until it is removed or is killed. If keeping with other fish, Jack Dempseys, Oscars, Severums, and Red Devils could be suitable tank mates.

thx for your comment.

i will give the female away.
they wanna use the cave of my black ghost knife.
i hope this will stop if the is male alone.
the ghost knife can defend himself but its annoying to see him stressed out.

and i also made more hiding spots.
and they are cleaning the rocks on the other side of the tank
but i guess when they will start breeding it wont solve my problem...even if they use a other cave?

As you probably know, fish all have their own personality. Some just nastyean and other docile and calm. The environment also plays a huge role.

In your case removing the female will help forsure. Watch the male as he matures, mine is getting more and more territorial and I keep him with Clown loaches. He ignores the loaches and they like him.

But I would never put another cichlid with him, I know it would be bad news. Maybe in a huge tank it could work because he could have his own space. But I don't have room.for such a tank.

Always best to have a divider handy, or a spare tank.

I agree with philpraposo1982..have a divder handy..if u broke an eggcater from homedepot ...easy to cut to fit to u tank...i lost a male 3 year old green terror beautiful in 10 hours by a jaguar same size 1 year old killed him..they lived together separate side of tank . for about 3 months..one day .went to work..came home terror on his death bed..divider would have saved him..i know havr divider for all my tanks..with cichlids..they can snap and kill very quickly

i put the female for sale but nobody react soon enough and now she laid eggs.
good to know they like the tank and the breeding spot i made for them.
i will see how they will do it with my other fish if it gets to crazy i need to separate them.
my ghostknife now knows to not come close to the other side of the tank, and the greeen terrors have there own place now, lets hope this will stay like this.
but there is a chance when the baby's will swim around the tank this behaviour will only get worse.

thx everyone for helping me out i will just keep a eye on the tank and lets hope everyone stays happy, so i can keep them both

here some pictures tank and fish
