who all uses a separate hose for each tank for water changes to eliminate spreading parasites and disease tank to tank. Just wondering if it’s really that necessary. I’m currently growing out some nice juvie discus doing 100 percent water changes a day but have to use the same hose I use in my other tanks. Will be getting a separate hose this week I think though if it’s worth it at least just for my discus tank. What’s everyone’s thoughts on this.

Nah, unless you've got all separate gear nets, and everything it's just adding extra hassle, cost and stuff to store.

And if you're like me you've already got enough crap everywhere even sharing between tanks.

I have 4 hospital tanks and each has its own set of equipment which is sterilized between uses. But most of the main displays here share water so segregated cleaning equipment would be pointless for those.

Do you soak the inside of the hose?

make sure the hose is submerged in the chlorine solution, otherwise it won't sterilize.

If you don't want to use bleach you can use a peroxide solution and water, about 1 whole large bottle for 50 gallons of water.

I kinda over-do it and each of my (only 4 running) tanks has its own nets, hoses, siphons etc. However they do share a hose for re-filling the tanks, though it never goes into the tank water itself.

I take the nets from each tank and from time to time put them out in the 100F mid-day sun for a few hours. Not true sterilization I guess but probably helps to disinfect them enough for same tank usage.
