Will the parents eventually eat the fry? I have a pair alone in a 29 gallon that had fry 2 weeks ago. I've noticed the parents seem to pay a lot less attention to them in the past few days. Will probably grow the fry a little bigger and use them as treats in other tanks. Just wondering if it would be a good idea to move/separate them, or if they have a good chance of survival in the current setup.

They will eat all the fry right before they spawn again. If you want to grow the fry out, I'd recommend pulling them within the next week. Mine always went somewhere between 3 and 4 weeks before the next spawn.

Update: The male killed the female this morning. I'm guessing she wasn't ready to breed again and he was. Now my new question is - What do I do as far as stocking the tank? I don't want a whole tank dedicated to a single male Convict, and I don't want to set up a new female to be executed. Any suggestions on what to stick a 29 gallon with? Could a small shoal of Exodons work? Like 5 or 6?
