I am tearing down a glass tank. All is going well excet for a few joins that are so snug that I can't even get a utility knife in between them.

Will I be able to lever the glass away until the seal tears open?

NO! :D

Well at leastt I wouldn't advise it :D

speaking from personal experience in leveraging or prying glass seams apart....

Get a 4 inch razor scraper blade... Push it through the seam and then put some toilet paper or paper towel on the top of both sides or leather gloves and push it diwn the seam..

THEN you can pry or bend the seam off much safer..Any time you are working with glas you risk the pics above.. i tried to get my wife to get me the super glue!! She freaked out!!! Especially when i asked and then she seen it shoot a good stream as my heart pumped!

:WHOA:

Ahhh......I'll take your word for it...... :D

I can't get a scraper blade in between these panels. I just get chipping.

Would I have any temperature or chemical options?

I don't know..

have you tried to pry and see how much give it has with little effort??

A towel and some thick gloves may be your only way.. But... If all you are hearing is chipping then could that be a dry joint??

You will always hear SOME chippign as well during your projects of this nature.. Are you pushing the razor through without the handle.. JUST the razor?

Oh and I still haven't gained ALL of the feeling back in my thumb :D

I've found the base and one side of one panel are like this, so the idea of pushing this one is making me nervous.

I've been OK with some minor chipping on the others.

I don't think these joints are dry, just very snug.

Sorry to hear about your thumb. It does make me want to be careful though. :)

MAN! that's awesome, and really sweet and sick, and disgusting - all at the same time.

ive heard floss works.. or it might have been something about using wire to floss between the pieces... either way it sounds like it could work

Hint #12

Get a plain steel guitar string and wrap each end around a piece o f dowel for handles and use like floss.
