I think the safest way is to siphon them into a bucket with a 1/2" or so hose. You're not going to be able to catch them with a net very easily especially if the parents are still in with them.

completely agree, Tried catching convict babies, did not work out. syphon them, then add them to a cycled tank that is around the same temp with a sponge filter.

Move into a small tank(5g-10g) with heater and sponge heater.
