Sequels better than the original

Ok, Razman and I got started about movie sequels somehow and he claimed that "Shrek 2" is better than the first. I couldn't disagree more.

Anyone have a sequel they claim to be better than the original? I think it's amazing if Hollywood can even come close to the original, let alone exceed it. Sequels seem to only be made to cash in on the success of the original, unless it's a prequel/sequel situation like "Star Wars" or "The Matrix".

Thoughts?

Nicely done Sunpoe! As soon as I read that, I thought "YEAH!". I *LOVE* Bill Paxon in that movie, he's too funny.

Hmmm, I don't know if I agree, but I sure don't disagree. I think that qualifies as every bit as good as the first one, though. It was much higher budget, but the first one is a CLASSIC.
IMO, I rate them both dead-even so that definitely counts.
