Ok so i happened to aquir a long time ago a pump that u can see in the link below

http://www.spapumpsandmore.com/Wow_..._PUWWSCAS12598R_UltraJet_p/puwwscas12598r.htm

i have a 90 gallon tank with build in overflows. so basically 10 gallon overflow that i use as a filter with a 80 gallon tank

how many gallons per hour do you guys think this pump is? it was used for a jacuzzi type tub.

is it too much or do you guys think the tank could handle it

if not anyone interested in a even trade my huge pump for someones smaller one or canister filter of equal size?

also can i drop the 1.5 inch pipe down to 3/4 without screwing up the pump? or something else?

I have no idea on the gph but I can tell you that 7.5 amps running 24hrs a day will put a nice dent in your wallet with the electricity costs. thats 863 watts running all day every day. There's a reason these pumps are only used a few hours at a time.

If you want a strong pump, I would look into a pond pump. For reference, my 3400gph pump was using less than 2 amps. As for pipe sizing, you may be able to get away with something like 1" on the return line, but I would make sure to leave the inlet at 1.5"

what kind of pump do you have what do they cost ish?

i had an old Wave/Super Falls pump. i paid about $350ish several years ago. you can go to lowes/home depot and look at the pumps they have there. or several places online.

yeah i wasnt sure how bad it would be lol. So how big of a tank do you think i would have to have to run it. Cause the way i see it i have this big pump...i should get a big tank to go with it :)

The pump posted is 1.25 HP, I had access to free pumps before, I got a 1 hp pump for the weekly cleaning, it was CRAZY, after cleaning the cichlas was traumatized and did not eat for a week. One horse power is about 700+ watts.. yours is 1.25 do the math :-)

haha i did the math in post #3, 863 watts
