Aright, so living in Australia getting a quality flowerhorn is... $1500 (if you are lucky)...and yes I had one in the past.

A belief I always had, if you want to get something done, do it yourself instead of depending on others. As some of you may remember, I was planning on starting a breeding project. What I want to know, is how I can make flowerhorns from step 1.

For instance, in AUS, I might come accross a FH with a nice kok, but very bad coloration and pearls

or maybe a small kok, but average coloration and pearls.

What fish do you mix to bring out that potential grade? And yes I know this could take a good couple of years or more to get a nice FH. But my question is, what fish would I be looking at. Thanks.

I like where u are going with this .
Start off with a nice bodied male and breed it to a parrot female and start like that.

Thanks Source...I am kind of just making a plan with my spreadsheet. People here are honestly just selling average quality stuff at very high rates. Its a hybrid...and since I can't get over losing my flowerhorns last year... I want to start something in the future.

What type of flowerhorn are you trying to make?

Thanks for the replies guy. I was just wanting to start with a nice kok generation and colors maybe later..maybe want to start with nice red dragons?

IMO if you start with RD it wouldn't really be worth it. Start with kamfa and keep improving their color through generations. Red Dragon colors with a beast looking body of you will.

Good luck and start soon
