I got a hood + light today......I was setting it up and reading the directions and read "Don't use over OPEN WATER".......Says I need a piece of glass over the aquarium......The light is sealed with silicone and a sheet of glass.......Anyone use the hood with no piece of glass?...UGH

If you have the hood, the light isn't over open water...

But the reason they are saying to put another sheet down is because of moisture buildup then get into the light bulb

I have it. Single sheet is fine. Dont double up on glass. Been using it for about 2 years now. nice hood for small aquariums.

I have used all kind of fixtures on open top tanks for years without a problem. maybe it's just a disclaimer so they have an excuse not to replace a broken unit.
