I currently have a red/gold servium in a 133gal with a blood parrot and 2 pictus cats. I was woundering what other ciclids or fish I could put in with my servium. I was thinking a single angle fish and maybe a firemouth.

u could go with a convict possibly a female jd an a firemouth but idk about the jd an fires.

I got a few sevs, i have had firemouths in the past and I think they can in some cases be a little too aggressive for a severum. But if your sev has some size on him then it shouldn't be too big of a problem. I have a team of three and they defend themselves well.

also look into eartheaters (geos) They do well with sevs because they are also well mannered. And if you can get the right varieties they look great too.

I have a gold severum with a texas hybrid (pearlscale), 2 juvi jack demps and 1 firemouth.

The sev holds his own, but they are somewhat delicate fish. How large are your sevs?

A firemouth is going to agro/chase everything, that's how they are socially programmed. However, they are all talk no walk, for they do not have the mouth size to do much damage really.

:iagree: My FM has the same attitude, and the FM's I've kept in the past have this same personality. Constant flaring, showing off, challenging each other and other fish, but the second a fish has a real problem with them, they run, unless they are significantly stronger and larger than the other fish. That is my experience at least. I've found that my BP is more aggressive than my FM's. Angel fish are fairly passive (most of the time)and shouldn't cause a problem with the sev, but watch out for the safety of the angel, the long flowing fins are sometimes hard to ignore for a lot of fish.

The tank is large enough and the fish you have should work well, in my opinion. Just make sure you observe the tank in case any problems arise, as you just never know for sure.

Here are the tankmates for my Sevs - all still Juvies...

Fire Eel, GT, A. lyonsi, YoYo loaches, BN Plec and a nice school of Giant Danios

firemouths, geos, chocolate cichlids, most acaras, oscars...most new world cichlids that aren't too aggressive.
