1) what ever color will enhance the rays...I never kept them so I dont know. I would use the s grade colorquartz from 3m

2) whats the difference?

3) I am a sump with a canister kind of guy...sump for bio and to keep the water level constant in your tank and to house your heaters and a canister for mech/chem filtration.

What are the dimensions of that thing? Looks kinda unfriendly to clean.....

Looks like you have some work to do to get any kind flow through a sump on that tank........

Ray only tank I'd definetly do a sump. A BIG sump. With a BIG pump.

Hope it doesn't take as long as mine is.... I brought home a 300 gallon at the beginning of Jan, and it's just now getting ready to be filled. Could have filled it the day it came home but why waste such a nice tank? If you're going to do it anything over 200 gallons is worth doing right.

edit* Just found dimensions......

Curious though.... What's the thickness on it?

for rays go with play sand or pool filter sand up to you

definitely 1 sump and 1 fx5

the heaters can be placed in the sump as well
