Hey guys, I was just wondering if this would be an okay set up for the fishes I want, and would it be okay for these fishes, there cool fishes I love and I’m wondering if they would all work together, a freshwater tiger moray eel, a ghost knife fish, a Senegali bichir, elephant nose fish, and maybe Siamese algae eaters idk, my tank size is 75 gallons and I plan on getting on more drift wood and it’s fully cycled

Honestly you will have feeding issues because of different diets. Btw I've kept all of them at one time but not together.

The BGK and elephant nose definitely should have bloodworms. Senegal bichir and Moray small carnivore pellets, pieces of fish. Keep in mind Moray don't have keen sight so target feeding may be needed.

Ive heard bgk and Elephant nose dont go together because of their electric sensing abilities, also i would be worried about the murenes rear becoming an attractive snack to the bgk or the other way round.

But that might just be my experience with the pointy rear end of a gymnotus knife fish and hujeta gars.

Just a beginner in the hobby tho

Really? I saw a video stating that the bgk and the elephant nose can go together 😭 that’s so weird I’ll look into it more

Ive came across a couple videos saying that too but the some more saying it doesnt go well together because theyre both electric sensing, i got no real experience with this but it makes sense that they could drive eachother crazy with their different / similar sonar waves.

Also ive read Elephant nose fish are very very delicate, again no real experience on this but i was once interested keeping the exact same combination.

I decided on going the complete other route with an amazon (gymnotus) knife fish and havent tought about the bgk or Elephant nose ever since. Although theyre very beautiful fish.

Ps im pretty sure theres some knife fish that have the elephant nose aswell, might be worth looking into so you get best of both worlds kinda

Honestly the best suggestion i can give is keep on searching and reading, theres lot more beautiful fishes out there than u might think.

I like the aquarium glaser website to look at oddball fish and just a get a bit of understanding of whats available in the hobby, its how i came to find the gymnotus knife fish species.

When youre searching for new fish to add the first part of the Latin names of the fish is usually the family theyre in, if you like a certain kind of fish try searching the first name of it, ive noticed the last name is usually telling its color or patterns, wich could also help in your search. Now im not sure if its a fact but so far thats the pattern i recognise.

Theres a lot of knowledge here too, people have been of great help for me, if u explain what youre searching for in a fish looks and behaviour wise i bet people will have some good suggestions
