Hey Everybody,
I finally decided to turn my 72 gallon bowfront marine tank to freshwater...The tank has been completely empty since friday with freshwater and some white vinegar running thru the system.... as the 33 gallon sump needs to be cleaned too so the vingear is helping with that.
I will be draing the tank out tomorrow to finally begin the cycle, and here are my questions:
-Should my substrate be added first to the system or should I wait for it to be cycled? I will be using pool filter sand...just wondering because occasionally gas pockets occur in sand and I think the cycle will have an effect on that
-In my 3 chamber sump I will be running a filter sock and 5 gallons of pond matrix...should I put any other type of media in the sump?
- What are the most reliable heaters on the market today, i have a fluval 300 watt but it seems to always be off with temp?

Can I add the drop of amonia and then add an entire bottle of seachem stabilty to tank to help with bacteria growth?
