okay so my question is , can I add 2 established filters to the tank then add fish or should I wait a bit?

I also plan on adding some drift wood and plants from another tank.

Add some of the other tanks water and then also leave the filters 24hrs to move the water round abit before adding any fish .

Thats what i would do .

I put an air pump in last night to keep the water moving so It has for a bit , and I did add a bucket of water from the smaller tanks , do you think it would be okay to add the fish about 5 hours form now?

old water will not really do anything special. Most of the bacteria resides on substrate, filter media, and the best option you mentioned... plants.

The plants and driftwood are a good start. I would throw all that on the tank, wait 24 hours, and add LIGHT load of fish and then build it up slowly over the next month.

......I added all the fish :s They all seem really happy and are getting along , I'll just keep up with large water changes.

also I added the green terror first , because he's the smallest and I wanted him not to be eaten by the oscar. Is it true that fish normally don't eat the first ones in the tank before they are placed in?

just an update , The fish seem to be fine and showing no sign of distress and it's been almost two days. How long should I wait to do a water change , and what percent of the water should I change?

Also the tank is pretty barren and the fish seem to be swimming against the glass ( I heard they do this because they are bored.) would it be a good Idea to add more drift wood and lava rock for them to interact with?

Do you own a freshwater master test kit? Test for Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate.

Oh, and I doubt fish get bored. If you want them to be more active, you might put a power head in to make a current for them to swim against.
