I finally got my tank in. It was pretty dirty, so I've been trying to clean it up. I should be getting in 150 lbs of live rock and 200 lbs of live sand in the next week. As far as powerheads, how many gph should I have? I was going to do two 600gph, but wasn't sure. I still need to get a sump, top, lights and protein skimmer.

Thank you. I'll try and keep and update as the tank progresses.

Any suggestions on lighting?

Is this going to be a fish only tank or corals? If fish only, standard fluorescents will work fine.
As for powerheads, you might want to add one or two more 600 gph models. Make sure you get some current in behind and around as much of the live rock as possible.

It'll be for both coral and fish. The powerhead in there now is not staying, I just put that in there for the meantime to circulate the water a bit until everything is done.

have you already mix the salt in? if not you might want to drain it before u add the sand. Its alot easier putting the sand in and leveling it out without water. It also helps with the sand storm your gonna get.

No, I haven't put the salt in yet I'm just trying to clean the tank up. I'll drain it before I put the sand and live work in. I will also be refilling the tank with ro water.

For corals (depending on which corals) in a deep tank like that you will probably want to use metal halide lighting with additional high output fluorescents.
