I am setting up a 450 gallon tank and I have a couple of questions, I've never used a wet/dry before. The pump for the wet and dry says its 3000 gallons per hour, I'm wondering how much that's decreased at a 6 ft. head and if this would be enough filtration? Also I understand I can put the heaters in the filter as opposed to directly in the tank, would (2) 1000 watt heaters be about right? Any suggestions where to order heaters from would also be appreciated.

Usually when buying pumps there will be a chart in the paperwork for the changes in pressure depending on height of water column.

As for the heaters, yes you can put them in the filters. Eheim has a line of filters that have heaters integrated...which is great for large fish that break fragile tank heaters :) I think 2x1000 watts are way enough to heat your water...don't forget the light, which warm up considerably water. In my 130g I can do without a heater in the summer days, keeps the water close to 77 degrees. But I like it warmer and here winter is very cold so I still need warmers.

Hope this helps!

Hiya fish22, welcome to MFK. IMO Cyclops has it right, most pumps include a head pressure chart and you can always go to the maker's website. 3 watts per gallon is adequete for heating indoors in most places 2000 watts should be plenty.
