Hey everyone, thank you so much with all the help I have received from everyone thus far. You guys have been great. What a great site.
I finally decided on a 120 all glass aquarium (48 1/2 x 24 1/4 x 25 1/2):headbang2

1) I need to make a stand that is 3 feet high for it which can support 1500lbs...I was thinking of using concrete blocks for the height, and then 4by4's horizontaly on top of the concrete blocks, followed by some plywood on top of the 4by4's, followed by some kind of waterproof material such as shower curtain, then all covered up with a big black cloth or something to hide all the uglyness under the tank. What do you guys think? I can not make a stand as I have no room, equipment or talent when it comes to that stuff.

2) Will 2 AC110's be good for filtration for medium stocked?

3) Is there an easy way to make a lid for the tank with lights? Or should I buy the one at the stores which are like $200 I think (hood with cheap light included)

Your help is greatly appreciated

Thanks!

I have never done this and idk if it will work does the tank have a support brace in the middle if so buy 2 pecies of plexiglass and lay them on top with lights when u need to change water just take it off

First...Make friends with someone talented who has tools ;) .

Get a couple of pieces of .25" plexiglass (some places will cut it to size for you) from a home supply store and while your there p/u a 4ft flourescent shop light w/2 bulbs. Oh yeah, two knobs to lift them with too You'll have to drill or melt holes for them to bolt thru).

If you set the blocks right you can have some access to the interior (under the tank) after the 2x4s & plywood (as long as your hiding it get treated wood so you don't have to worry about water spills and mold), use .5" styrofoam insulation (bead board) to level out any irregularities.

2 AC 110's are a good start if you don't want to build a Wet/Dry system.

If you need more you can put in 2 foam (sponge) filters.

get a m8 that has some welding skills and get some box section and in no time at all you can have a metal stand just paint, add ply top, put a sheet or ply sides and u'll have free access under to hide sumps/filters etc

First Post on this site.

Ok you really need some stability from top to bottom and left to right. Just putting blocks up and putting 4x4's on that will not do. you could really do a easy stand with just 4x4s and screws, just measure how long and wide your tank is and go to Lowes or home depot and they could cut your wood for you. just tell them what you want they will help. all you'll have to do is screw the pieces together.

here is a link for what i used http://www.fishandtips.com/index.php
