Hi. I am going to set up a saltwater tank, But I have a few questions. I think I have everything I need. I have a 75gal with a corner overflow, a ocianic 150 wet/dry with a built in protien skimmer, an inline uv light, I have a 1400gph pump, and I have to upgrade the lighting to t-5 or metal halides. Will this set-up work?, or do I need to make some changes? Is the protien skimmer on the wet/dry good enough or will I need to upgrade it? I also have a wave machine timer, and 4 power heads. I dont know how much live rock or coral I amk going to have. I dont want to spend a fortion and have everything die being this my first saltwater tank. I was thinking of setting up 2 tanks, and running them both threw the one wet/dry system. One tank with live rock, and one preditor tank. With differant lighting for the live rock. Would this work? Or would I be better off with two seperate filtration setups. I know your saposed to have more calcium with live rock. I also have a tidelpool11 , would this work better then the ocianic 150 for filtration? Thanks for all the help. I would be lost without all the help Ive gotten from this website.

When you first set up the tank don't turn on the uv until the tank is fully cycled. UV's kill good bacteria also. Which size is the Tidepool? Are you going to have fish only or a reef tank? If fish inly you don't need halides. What size tank is the Oceanic rated for. What is the overflow in the tank rated for. If the pump flows more than the overflow is rated for there will be a problem.

The ocianic is rated for a 150 gal. tank., I think the tidelpool is rated for a 100 gal. I was thinking of running two tanks on the ocianic 150. 1 reef tank with metal halides, and 1 fish only tank. I have 2 75 gal tanks both with corner overflows. I dont know if that would be enough filtration using just the ocianic 150, or if I would be better off keeping the two tanks filtration seperate, and using the tidelpool on th other set-up. Would the protien skimmer that is on the wet/dry be good enough or do you think I will have to upgrade to a better skimmer? I have a valve onthe pump, so I can turn the flow down if nessisary, But I have it running on a feswater 75 gal. right now with no problems. The water is crystal clear. I do a 25% water change once a month. I am using he ocianic 150 on it, until I convert over to saltwater.

Use one wetdry on each tank. Ihave fish only with live rock .And fish wiyh no live rock. I have a 180 gallon and a 75 gallon. The 180 has a 30gallon sump wetdry, and 3cannister filters, protein skimmer and an ozonizer, and a uv sterilizer. The 75 has 3cannister filters and an aquaclear 110. And a uv sterilizer, protein skimmer. My fish are all in mint condition. I use RO/DI water also.
