I just started a new 75-gallon tank. I have 1 Green Terror, 1 Firemouth, and 1 Black Convict. I have only had then in there for a week and they are all juveniles that are under 2". I was thinking about adding another convict and maybe a Jack. I don't know if it is too late, they haven't established territories yet. Also I'm sure if that will over crowd the tank. I know that firemouths and convicts only grow to about 5", but Jacks can grow to 10" and I heard that Terrors could grow to 12". So I guess I want suggestions on if I should just leave it the way it is, or if I could add a couple more. Also if anybody has any suggestions as what to put in there besides a Jack or convict.

I wouldn't put more big cichlids in there, such as a JD, since you could potentially get some rivalry on your hands from the JD/GT, which could turn out to be quite nasty.

Otherwise i think you might be fine trying out some other smaller cichlids in the mix. Such as maybe another firemouth and another convict. Keep in mind if you get a male and female convict they will breed like hell. Firemouthes can get really nasty when they breed too, so i'd be careful adding a counterpart.

You could get some silver dollars or the likes to act as dithers, and also add some more movement to the tank

ulitmately, a 75G will be a fine size for the GT alone . . . but I wouldn't add any more cichlids, and certainly not a JD

if you stay with just the GT, Firemouth and Convict, you can probably get them all to full size and not have too many problems (it will really be up to the GT), but any more medium-sized cichlids, and you may run into problems

are all 3 males (or females)? if you have a male Firemouth and female Convict (or vice-versa), they may try to breed . . . not the end of the world, but it could raise the conflict level in the tank

The Green Terror is a male. As for the other 2 I have no idea how to sex firemouths or convicts

When the convict reaches about 2" in length, you will be able to tell. If you notice red spots on the belly that indicates female. As for the Firemouth, that takes more time. I currently have a female only tank with a firemouth, a convict and a Thorichthys maculipinnis. Little to no aggression and lots of pretty colors.
