Sooooo Hey everyone, been a while since i posted on Monster Fish as my first tanks needs were better met on ac...BUT i got a 2nd tank now! Marginally bigger. Whoop.

Its a 35g tank, 3' long, 1' deep and 23'' high.
Would have prefered a long tank, but £10 for the tank, stand, heater, light, filter AND air pump i just thought it wasnt the time and place to be picky. lol

SO i now have the tank, going to set it up to cycle tomorrow once ive cleared away some space in my room. I will import some media from my 10g tank and most likely put a filter sponge or two as well as some substrate into the new tank to help cycle it.

At the moment as far as looks go i am intending to create a moss wall at the back and sides, and use a dark/black substrate. -though i do like the idea of sand, its just im scared. lol
I intend to make a slate backdrop as well which i will craft some caves into.

So ... the point of the thread?
STOCKING.

I love, LOVE, plecos. - Though i am not half as knowledgable as most on the pleco forums lol.
I have narrowed down my wanted plecos to....
- Longfin Albino plecos
- Blue Phantom
- Crimson/vampire plec

Any comments on the 3? Id love to hear of other peoples experiences with them

In my 10g tank i have two angelfish and a female betta which make putting in other fish rather irritating at times due to their being territorial so i hope to keep this tank as friendly as possible so the fish i will be keeping the plecos with are most likely going to be....Shrimp, possibly guppies...though my opinion on them changes by the day ((They are just so prone to sickness!!)) and....mollies/swordtails. Unless others have suggestions, as my knowledge on fish is generally limited to those frequently mentioned on the general forums/and those fish that exist in EVERY LFS

Thanks in advance guys :)

i have no knowledge of plecos, but i know that your angelfish will probably outgrow your 10 gallon tank, and bettas to my experience are generally peaceful with other fish, just not of its own kind. Just my 2 cents. Sorry i was of no help, but doesn't seem that you had any other responses and i'm just on a role just going thread to thread voicing my opinions. sorry.

Haha thanks ^_^
No worries, comments a comment! i do the same thing sometimes lol

Well you see the thing is with my female fighter - i am feeding her (and the rest of the tank) live food once or twice a week atm in an attempt to get some loving going on. I have that male fighter in my display in a seperate 3g tank on his own as he got a little beaten up by the previous female betta. The female has become aggressive due to her producing eggs and building nests. Yes my female builds nests as well as the male. So she ends up beating up the Red coral platys, the angelfish, and the occassional bite on the plecos.

The angelfish...your right, theres a chance they'll outgrow the tank - and if that does happen im going to have to return them to my LFS and ask them to find them a better home. ((i didnt buy the angels, my girlfriend bought me them as a gift)) I just dont want my tank to be built around two fish which im not overly passionate about.

I don't see a problem with the Longfin Albino plecos(BN) and Blue Phantom but I would stay away from the vampire pleco as it could get up to 10 inches.

One of the most important things to do for a pleco is give them hiding places especially when there is more then one pleco.

I also believe the first two may be veggie eaters where as the Vampire would prefer meaty items.

Yes i am more inclined towards the first two as they're easier to feed. The growing to 10'' wouldnt be to big an issue i believe, as i am forever on the lookout for the next tank. lol. I am still looking for a 4ft long tank but not much luck as its considerably harder to find bargain tanks in the UK (just not as many online sources, as far as i can see anyway. im restricted to craigslist, ebay and...thats it)

So we shall eliminate the Scarlet, leaving blue phantom and longfin albino BN -
I forgot to include Clown plecos in the list of plecos im interested in.

I like the 3 you have picked but the Vampier Pleco will outgrow the tank , you could get one but just make sure you have a bigger tank setup and ready for him when he does get big . Clown Plecos are very nice too . Stay small wont outgrow the tank and dont get too aggressive with other Pleco . :)

Stocking ~ i would put your Angel Fish in the 3Foot tank too , as someone said before is that they will outgrow the 10Gal tank very soon if not already .

the angelfish are currently aprox 3'' in height - and they are in a tank where the only other swimming fish is 2x red coral platy and 1x female fighter. The plants are all low to the ground (javamoss, anubis and an anubis variant) so there is plenty of swimming room for them

Anybody done seahorses?
