Setting up a reef tank-live rock questions

Hi . Im setting up a 90 gal. reef tank. I was wondering if I buy foundation live rock. Will it eventually get the color of the expensive live rock, or will it remain the same color. I am using the t-5 lighting for now until I can update to metal halide.

If you seed the foundation rock with a small cumnk of rock with coraline already on it then it will eventually spread providing you keep the calcium and other other elements at the proper levels.
