Hey, guys,

I have a 75 gallon tank that I am going to set up on Monday. I will be purchasing a 150 or 180 gallon tank later on in maybe a year or two once I make the space for it, etc. I am definately getting a clown knife fish. They are my favorite. Along with it, I want to purchase an ornate bichir and golden severum. If the CK and OB don't work, what will work with the CK and GS? I know that some people say that clown knives can defend themselves, but they always seem so peaceful to me. Will the ornate bichir kill my clown knife? They will both be at 4 inches and my golden severum about 2.5 inches. I have already located these three fish at my lfs. If clown knives are pushovers, I am going to leave ornate bichir in the store. I've done african knives with oscars and golden severums in the past with no problems (though, occassionly the oscar and severum had brief quarrels which neither came out of it hurt...), so I know the clown knife and golden severum will work.

What do you think?

Only 1 knife fish in a tank, I had 2 that fought all the time. I also have 12-13 polys in my tank with my knife, no issues. Go with atleast a 180 for the knife, bigger is better. It will outgrow the 75 in no time atall, I would say less than a year. My albino CK went from 4" to 16-18" in one years time.

That's the thing with the CK. A 75 gallon tank is enough to hold a golden severem and bichir for life, but the CK is going to need something twice as large. I can do that, but I don't want to make room for it just yet. Maybe next year Christmas or something. The CK should slow down its growing drastically once it hits 16 inches. My tank is almost 20 inches wide, its 4 feet long and almost 20 inches tall. It should last for about a year-and-a-half, I think, before I have to make room for an aquarium twice as large.

I have 2 ornates with my CK... they're all happy and love to cuddle lol :D

Nice! They are selling small ornate bichirs for 75 dollars at my LFS, is that a good price?
