ive decided that im gonna set up an african peacock tank. i have an empty 75g that im gonna use. for peacocks is it better to have more open space since they get larger than most africans or rockwork? also what substrate do you guys recommend? i was planning on getting 3-4bags of eco-complete african sand. also what kind of lighting do you guys use on your african tanks? im gonna be moving my syno cat to the tank from my 55g.

less rock more open, but have the ability to break line of sight... sand sounds good, I use Pool Filter Sand. These guys love to sift.... I use 20w 18,000k aqua glo... they are not to bad in price and look great...

with pool filter sand does it buffer it enough for them? my water is right around 7ph out of the tap

Probably not.

I use crushed coral sand mixed with some black sand. I also have better lights than most as I have a planted African Tank.

I have a lot of low rockwork. I have some plants and a piece of driftwood that go much higher in the tank.

Here is a pic of my 110 gallon Oceanic from a couple of weeks ago

say 15 or liike 20-30 smaller mbuna

stable is better... Besides I bet unless you have wild your tap water is the same level that your LFS is... PFS will be fine.

peacocks with no females 10 is a good number for life...

wood is fine as long as it does not have tannins left. I would recommend texas holey Rock will buffer and is great looking. I would only put a few pieces in... Peacocks need more open space... The light I recommended will work in a 75 for low light plants....

Eco-complete is good substrate. 10 -12 peacocks should be good in a 75. less is more w/decor and peacocks.
