:newbie:HELP! I am setting up a 24 gallon aquapod to move my clowns into. Everything was going fine until I got it out of the box.

I attached the top tube of the submersible pump to the back of the thingies that stick out and spurt water. The rest of the pump is laying on the bottom of the portion for filter. The sponges are in place, and the plates that hold out water (except a little at top) are in place so it will surface skim?

Set it on table, put in sand and water. Smiled. Plugged in the cords and took a look at my pretty new tank. :hearts: I can't see how the water is going into the sponge part of the back of the tank. When I looked back there, instead of a flowing water I expected to see (going through sponge and back into pump then in tank, etc.) I see a calmer water.

Is this set up right? The instructions are pretty much useless (no pics). I can't figure out if this is actually going to filter the water or not.

I know this sounds dumb, but this is my first time using aquapods. I even had to go to the store today and ask how to use the lights, as instructions say nothing about them. :nilly:

Thanks in advance.

Personally. . . I hate those things. The pumps are weak, the filters are a joke, and if your lucky, only a few things will crap out on you.
would have been better off gettin a regular 29gal tank "kit" from wal-mart, swapping bulbs in the hood, and upgrading to a larger filter than provided, instead of what you just purchased. Just MO :)

I would have to agree on that lol. If its possible i would return that item and build your system. Yes you will spend a little more money but your getting much better results once the system is up and running, and also holding a lot of money in stock. I hope everything works out well for you in the end.

Unfortunately, this item cannot be returned. I will have to stick to it. But, I can always do the 29 gallon idea from Walmart.

What kind of lighting would be needed to switch too? I would hope to get corals for the tank

there are many lights that will work for your setup. The most basic would be Power Compacts. These lights will grow softies and some LPS. If your into more demanding corals then id suggest a set of T5 HO's with individual reflectors or halides. VHO's can be used but they use a lot of space and on top of a 29gallon, space is already limited. if your interested in one over the other depending on your ideas for corals, i will get your some links to good units.
