Hey guys I just got a 115 gallon (5'x2'x18") acrylic aquarium. I was wondering what your suggestions would be for filtration. I'm looking to make the filtration as quiet as possible, since it is right next to my bed. I currently have a Rena xp2 on a 40gal, I love this filter it has always worked great and is so quiet it is hard to tell if it is on. So would 2 xp2's work for the 115? I was thinking a xp4 but it won't fit under the stand (the height under the aquarium is 21"). Or maybe a Fluval fx5, but that is more expensive.

Also for heating would a 300 watt Hydor inline handle it? It would usually have to heat around 10deg F higher than my rooms temp.

Thanks in advance. :nilly::nilly:

I was looking at fx5s. Are they as quiet (how about compared to the Renas)?

Oh also for now all that is going in this at is a 10" oscar and 10" pleco, maybe more fish in the future if I can find anything big enough.

I just got my FX5 for a 4x2x2. I've got a 12'' tiger oscar and 12'' black shark. I've had it running since Saturday. As long as it's not sucking air or anything than it should be barely audible. I had an issue with micro bubbles at first but I took out the sponge pads and left just the bio media and it's running perfectly now.

Thanks for the replies! I'll see if I can get one off ebay.

Anyone tried the inline heater? Is 300 watts enough?
