quik question. im setting up my new 225 its 8 feet long. it has an open diy stand. tank is acrylic. do you think i should put styro between the tank and stand? if so how thick of styro? i use styro under my garage tanks for heating purpose but thats all. i heard its a must for acrylic my big glass tanks i dont use styro but want to make sure. thanks. id like to get it on the stand and filled by tomorrow.

When you say open stand do you mean the top? If so, then you need to put a sheet of wood on their then the styro. Open top stands are for glass tanks only.
any thoughts to how thick of styro i should get? also what kind? the usual home depot stuff ok? floor and stand are perfectly level and its on a concrete slab so it wont be shifting or moving. just wasnt sure if styro is a must.

It is my understanding that you need to put something with a little give to it under an acrylic tank, I guess it is to take up any slight imperfections in the stand top as the bottom needs to be fully supported? I'm using styrofoam insulation board from Home Depot under mine, I think it is about 1/2" thick.
