So I have a grow out tank w/ a red devil/midas, a texas, a JD, and a convict pair. I think I am leaning towards making this a home for the RD/Midas and rehoming or moving the others to another tank. My question is what can go in w/ him? I figure I'll add a bushynose pleco...but what for dithers....would the convicts be able to stay?...the fry could be free live food for the RD/Midas.

Once the RD/midas grows bigger he will likely kill most anything else in the 55g with him. Maybe some giant danios would last.

Giant danios are too passive, it would be a massicre.

A BN could probs make it if he had some hiding spots that are too small for a midas.

You could try to keep the convicts in there. I probably would try it since they are a nice cheap fish and probably the most aggressive fish for their size when breeding.

in a 55g, your devil/midas will more than likely desimate anything and everything in that tank. a 55g could become a little too small if your devil starts pushing the 11-12" mark, so i would prepare to get him atleast a 75g.

you could try giant danios as suggested for dithers, since they are extremely fast swimmers. but do expect the devil to get them sooner than later, as their not exactly a slow moving fish either.

what about malawi's they are aggressive??????? would that work in a big tank with lots of rock for hiding places????
