Ok Guys I need some advice. I am currently setting up a 125 gallon tank in my 3rd floor apartment. Scary I know, but I believe it should hold. Anyway, This is what I have:
1. 125 gallon Oceanic Aquarium and Stand
2. ProClear Aquatics 300 wet-dry filter
3. Two Shop Lights (4 Flourecent Bulbs)
4. Two Bags of Seachem's Flourite
5. About 100 lbs of sand from the beaches on NC
6. A 40-50 lb Cedar Stump of Drift Wood also From the beaches on NC
7. And a 9W UV Sterilizer

My question to you guys Is do I need anything else besides the Fish and The plants? Also, is it OK to put Cedar Drift Wood in a Fish Tank? Also, How do I go about puting down the Flourite and The Sand on Top of It? Do I rinse all of it First? Is it safe to Put Ocean Sand in a Freshwater Aquarium? And probably the most important question is: When can I put the Fish in to the Tank If I put about 20% of the water in the tank from my already existing 55 gallon Fully Planted Discus/ Stingray Tank. (I'm upgrading) Big Time!

i have used beach sand in a tetra tank and it was fine. your wood would probably equal out the ph of the sand. i only think you might have a probablem with the rays and the plants.

Not to be negative, but unless you're planning on upgrading a 125 is too small for any type of ray in the long run...

And I'd be wary of using cedar driftwood. Cedar and pine have a lot of sap and oils that could leak into the water. Maybe if it's a very old piece it might be okay...

For the Last 8 months they have seemed to like the plants in my 55 gallon. But you never know with a bigger tank maybe they will feal more likely to rip up some plants. Here are some pictures of the fish in my 55 gallon that I'm putting in my 125 and aslo pictures of the Wood I found:

doesnt really look like cedar..its too smooth..and the centers should be redish/pink.

that set up should do ok for growing most your easy low light plants.

Teacups are generic terms for a baby ray, which means it could be any ray. But it looks like a hystrix to me as well. where is the ray now?
