setting up new canister for 125

im setting up a canister filter on my 125, is there anything special i should do besides just following the instructions? how often should i clean the canister once its in use?

what kind of canister?

if its a new tank make sure to let it cycle before adding fish.

to make things go a bit faster you can use established media from an existing tank.

you just need 20 minutes a month to rinse off the bio stuff, replace the filter floss pad(or rinse and reuse), carbon, and rinse out the filter pad(just replace these about once a year).

You'll notice when it's time to clean - the flow rate drops.

I only open mine about once per year ...

Each pump is different I as well clean mine when flow rate drops I can go about 6-7 months and then clean it and wait till next year!
