Have any of you had success with live plants in a cichla tank?
I've got a tank I'm setting up where I was thinking of some thin needled Java fern and star or flame mosses.
If anyone had any luck would love to see pics of your tanks- or if think this idea is crazy let me know

Plants are fair game for smaller Cichla, but the bigger they get the racket they cause will cause uprooting. They don't dig things up as much as they do just go berserk during feeding. Anubias may work for bigger Cichla though.

Amazon swords can work, but medium/large river rock will need to be used around the base of each plant/cluster to keep them from being uprooted from the thrashing.

I've used this method with a tank that had 12-14" pike, and the plants were fine.
