Hey guys, I moved a while back and emptied out my old 55 gallon tank, which has an eheim 2026 filter.

I wanted to get these up and running again, and the filter was not drained before it was put in storage. If i bring the tank in and run the filter in it to cycle, with no substrate, is there anything else i should be concerned about? Ive never had to use anything that has set in the garage for so long.

Not really no. We have a LOT of tanks and occasionally one or more of them is broken down and stored for a while. We also buy a lot of used tanks and equipment. Other than a good inspection for damage, a through cleaning and in the case of cannister filters, new media, you should be good to go.

Ya thats really what i meant, do i have to replace the media inside the cannister?

Not the bio media...that can be washed but I replace everything else.

well the only thing other than the bio media i have in there is a fine white pad....is that all i should be concerned about? The filter just has 3 baskets with efhi substrat and efhi mech in the baskets...

theres usually a sponge filter layer for mechanical filtration. It sounds like this can was set up for mostly bio-filtration and theres nothing wrong with that.
