i bought a tank 6ft x 3ft 300 gal with sump

Filtration 3 Fx + Sump

Main idea is to have peacock bass tank.

Possible tank mates

pair of parrots- wife likes them , this is a big maybe
jack dampsey
green terror
1 arrowana
red tail catfish

Couple questions

Best peacock bass to look for ? looking for nicest colors green
what fish should i put in with p bass ??
is 10-14 peacocks too many ?

any other suggestions on stocking, trying to have a nicely mixed or p bass only tank,

i have experience in keeping petrochromis red bulu - aggresive tangenikan cichlids for many years , but i'm switching to American cichla

any input greatly appreciated....

Is this a forever home for them?

for a couple years, i did tangenikans in 220 , now starting with a 300 for Americans , tank is in the basement so with time i might go to 400 +

but for a couple years this will be it , if i have to rehome some fish with time, i would do it instead of torturing them.

I would do
Black arowana
Marble stingray
Orino bass
Azul bass
Kel bass
Tigrinus catfish (red tails get way too big for a 300 gallon)

I would not get 3 canisters. I would go with either a 30 or 55 gallon moving bed filter. Build one with an emergency overflow and then have it flow into the sump. Build a prefilter basket with zip ties and egg crate/lighting diffuser and use polyester batting in that. Use k1 or k3 kaldnes and get an air pump that pumps AT LEAST 25 liter per minute and a weighted diffuser disc.

A wet dry or submerged sump will work....k1 is effective but its loud
A wet dry sump would work with cermedia. Cermedia is the best bio-media you can get. It is what is used in bakki showers. You just have to have sufficient mechanical filtration before the cermedia because you DO NOT want debris in cermedia. Lava rock would work good also. You just have to have good mechanical filtration, like with the cermedia.

This is why majority of people use filter socks
